Revolutionary Shift: Design in the New American Republic

Thursday October 8th: 6:00PM - 7:15PM
Ticket Price: $20

As part of the 250th anniversary celebration of the Powel House, art historian Amy Henderson offers a special tour of this fine example of mid-18th century Georgian architecture. The tour tells the story of the Powels as major characters in a cultural coming-of-age process and highlights the design and décor of the house. This is the physical setting in which they entertained, promoted sociability, civility, and conviviality-all of which were seen as the "civilizing process" in the new nation.
