Get ready for B. PHL, a city-wide innovation festival

B. PHL is a new, city-wide innovation festival designed to build the city’s reputation as the most innovative city on the East Coast. On Oct. 15-17, locations around Philadelphia will host more than 200 interactive workshops, sessions, exhibits, and events highlighting innovation in a range of fields.
B. PHL will give attendees face-to-face access to the visionaries shaping the future of Philadelphia over three jam-packed days. The festival aims to help people make connections and to ignite new ideas.
B. PHL boasts more than 40 arts-focused sessions during the festival. Among these are:
- A conversation with Abbi Jacobson, the writer/actor/producer well-known as the co-creator of Broad City
- An interactive workshop with Jane Golden from Mural Arts Philadelphia
- A live taping of the “Philly Who?” podcast with Sharon Pinkenson from the Greater Philadelphia Film Office
- A session about documenting the history of Philadelphia with Sam Katz
- A presentation by David Serkin Ludwig of the Curtis Institute of Music about the history of music and its relation to technology
- A workshop with Quinn Bauriel from Pig Iron Theatre Company that challenges attendees to use “play” to question their assumptions and look at problems from multiple angles
- A panel discussion about the future of fashion featuring some of the city’s leading designers
The B. PHL team is partnering with and highlighting organizations throughout the region, local entrepreneurs, and individual innovators. Partner organizations include: Independence Blue Cross, Center for Architecture and Design, the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, the City of Philadelphia, Comcast, the Curtis Institute, Drexel University, Entercom, Fitler Club, InstaMed, Jefferson University, the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Philadelphia Global Identity Project, PECO, the Science Center, Temple University, and Visit Philadelphia.
